Isreal and the UAE shake hands

It is big news.
The far left hate Israel and the "Zionists," of course, so they will condemn it as far as they care. Omar and Talieb, for example support the BDS anti-Israel movement. The rest of the Democrats are afraid to say anything. My guess is it will be ignored.
Besides, talking about it would interrupt their coverage of Kamala Harris walking on water.

Just to clear (more so than the tweet above), the UAE and Israel are establishing "full diplomatic relations."The president, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed released a joint statement Thursday, after the three spoke “and agreed to the full normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.†The statement said that the “diplomatic breakthrough†was at “the request of President Trump,†and that Israel will “suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world.â€- "I'm a hell of a lot smarter than most of you guys." — Joe Biden, at Jesse Jackson's funeral, March 2026.

Maybe this one can go to Biden, who famously asked, "Is rail what? Better than buses? C'mon, man, Trailways is the best. And that's no malarky!"Originally posted by Michele View PostOh great...another Nobel Peace Prize for Obama for doing nothing.

Excellent news and a huge step. The UAE is emerging as the leader in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia's influence has been waning for awhile.
Not a peep out of Iran either. Remember when Trump was going to cause WWIII? Good times."Faith is nothing but a firm assent of the mind : which, if it be regulated, as is our duty, cannot be afforded to anything but upon good reason, and so cannot be opposite to it."

It was broadly hinted that other agreements were in the offing, and I think this one qualifies:
Trump oversees economic deal that includes Kosovo recognizing Israel, Serbia moving embassy to JerusalemThis is a very big deal, too, and shows, among other things, that the breakthrough with the UAE wasn't a one-off, but a piece of a larger new paradigm.President Trump on Friday oversaw the signing of an agreement between Serbia and Kosovo that normalizes economic relations between the two countries — and also includes Kosovo recognizing Israel, and Serbia agreeing to move its embassy to Jerusalem.
The Belgrade-Pristina deal was signed by their two leaders –* Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo's Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti –* in front of Trump in the Oval Office, with Trump describing it as a "major breakthrough."
“Truly, it is historic,†Trump said. “I look forward to going to both countries in the not too distant future.â€
The deal came just weeks after Trump announced an agreement had been reached between the United Arab Emirates and Israel on opening up relations between the two countries.
This is very much the stuff of Nobel prizes and broad coverage.
But the American media is in full Orange Man Bad mode, and the story has been widely ignored. Meanwhile I saw a funny headline:
Why Americans in Israel must vote for TrumpJewish Americans, of course, will continue to vote for Democrats, because. . . Now, after four wonderful years of making both America and Israel great again, President Trump’s actions speak even louder than his words, which is saying a lot.- "I'm a hell of a lot smarter than most of you guys." — Joe Biden, at Jesse Jackson's funeral, March 2026.

The third domino needs to be added to this thread, too:
Trump announces Bahrain, Israel will normalize relationsThere will now be a three-way signing ceremony with Israel, Bahrain and UAE.Iran isn't happy:. . . Trump suggested that the moves toward normalization between Israel and other Arab countries might somehow entice the Palestinians to join in.
“We think, ultimately, you’ll have most countries join and you're going to have the Palestinians in a very good position. They want to come in. They're going to want to come in because all of their friends are in,†Trump said.
The deal, however, represents another hit to the Palestinians' call for Arab nations to abstain from normalizing relations with Israel before it resolves its conflict with the Palestinians.
As with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain has never been at war with Israel.
Iran says Bahrain normalizing ties with Israel 'shameful'Iran said on Saturday that Bahrain’s move to normalize relations with Israel meant it would be complicit in Israeli policies which threatened regional security, Iranian state TV reported.
Bahrain’s agreement, which was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday, was partly forged because of shared wariness of Iran.
Iran’s foreign ministry said that it would hold the governments of Bahrain and its allies responsible for any insecurity caused by Israel in the Gulf region.
Palestinians fear the moves by Bahrain and its fellow Gulf Arab state, the United Arab Emirates, will weaken a longstanding pan-Arab position that calls for Israeli withdrawal from occupied territory and acceptance of Palestinian statehood in return for normal relations with Arab countries.
Bahrain has become the fourth Arab country to reach an agreement with Israel, which exchanged embassies with Egypt and Jordan decades ago.Palestinian hustlers who have fed well off hatred and terrorism are unhappy:“Bahrain’s shameful move sacrifices the Palestinian cause and decades of struggle ... at the expense of the U.S. election,†Iranian TV quoted a foreign ministry statement as saying.
Bahrain is home to the U.S. Navy’s regional headquarters. Saudi Arabia sent troops to the small island state in 2011 to help quell a largely Shi’ite Muslim uprising against the Sunni-dominated leadership.
Palestinians Rally Against Bahrain-Israel NormalisationAttended by a few dozen? Must've looked like a Biden rally.Bahrain on Friday joined the UAE in agreeing to normalize relations with Israel, a move forged partly through shared fears of Iran but one that could leave the Palestinians further isolated.
The Gaza protest, attended by a few dozen, was organized by the ruling Islamist group Hamas.
"We have to fight the virus of normalization and block all its paths before it succeeds, to prevent it from spreading," said Hamas official Maher al-Holy.
But they're losing:
Arab League Rejects Palestinian Resolution Condemning Israel-UAE Peace DealIn a significant diplomatic blow to the Palestinian leadership, the Arab League has refused to condemn the landmark peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
The organization representing 22 Arab countries spread across the Middle East and North Africa voted down the resolution sponsored by the Palestinian Authority (PA) denouncing the Arab Gulf state of UAE for establishing full diplomatic ties with the Jewish State.- "I'm a hell of a lot smarter than most of you guys." — Joe Biden, at Jesse Jackson's funeral, March 2026.

Democrats aren't happy, either:
I saw that on TV and it cracked me up. A "distraction"!
Does Nancy write her own jokes, or does she have a backroom crew brainstorming punchlines?
Joe Biden tries out a different punch line. Only two ME countries had ties with Israel before, Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994. Now the tectonic plates are moving again. Joe says Trump did it by accident:
In back-handed compliment, Biden praises Trump for Israel-UAE dealC'mon, man. It's a big fucking deal. Just say it.Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden railed against US President Donald Trump’s record in the Middle East during a Thursday campaign event, but acknowledged that the administration’s brokering of a normalization deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates was a positive development.
“I think Trump is going to accidentally do something positive here, in terms of this issue of… other Arab states†acknowledging Israel, Biden said during a virtual fundraiser organized by the liberal, pro-Israel lobby J Street. The Times of Israel received a recording from the private event.
I haven't seen the video or heard the audio of Biden "railing," and I'm curious, even about the ellipses in the quote above. I won't bother asking who writes his one-liners.- "I'm a hell of a lot smarter than most of you guys." — Joe Biden, at Jesse Jackson's funeral, March 2026.
