Ignorance of the law is no excuse except

    if you're Secretary of State.

"WASHINGTON — The FBI recommended Tuesday that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton should not face criminal charges over her use of private e-mail as secretary of state, even though she and aides were "extremely careless" in handling classified information.

Though there is evidence Clinton acted improperly -- and may have been hacked -- no prosecutor would bring a case because there is no evidence she acted intentionally, FBI Director James Comey said."

So she was in charge of all this and still didn't know how to handle classified information? This is the best the Democrats have?

It sucks, no 2 ways about it. Our Presidential candidate is a weasel, their Presidential candidate is a weasel, we're all fucked.

Of course, you know as well as I do that State leaks like a sieve and the professionals never give the political appointees any information that is or could be of value to an enemy. So while the whole mess is reprehensible and makes our government look like malignant buffoons (a charge that could accurately be leveled, at various times, against every administration from Nixon forward, with the possible exceptions of Carter and Ford), there's a limit to how much damage could have been done.

However this election turns out, most of us are just going to have to hold our noses, sigh, and wait out the 4 years.

Correction: A Clinton who might be president and could retaliate against the FBI.

It would seem that the FBI investigation and the congressional inquiry (Benghazi number 8, for those keeping score) have both concluded without coming up with a pretense for a followup investigation. That would be big.
          Enjoy.

I looked into it, and I still think pretense works fine.

              Pretext vs Pretense

Pretext is a false rea*son given to con*ceal a truth, and comes from a word mean*ing “to weave, before, pre*tend.” Think of a pre*text as hav*ing “tex*ture, a cloth, a cover-up.” Dana told every*one she was laid off because of the econ*omy but she was really fired. She never said she was laid off, but she acted as if that was the case, then promptly changed the subject.

Pretense comes from a word mean*ing alleged. Pretense is usu*ally an unsup*ported claim, often about an accom*plish*ment; it’s make-believe, a false show or pro*fes*sion. AP Stylebook 2014 says pre*tense is a more overt act intended to con*ceal per*sonal feelings.

Pretext, then, is often used to hide the truth, while pre*tense is com*monly used to stretch the truth.
              Full Definition of pretense
1: a claim made or implied; especially : one not supported by fact
              2 a : mere ostentation : pretentiousness <confuse dignity with pomposity and pretense — Bennett Cerf>
              b : a pretentious act or assertion
3: an inadequate or insincere attempt to attain a certain condition or quality
4: professed rather than real intention or purpose : pretext <was there under false pretenses>
              5: make-believe, fiction
6: false show : simulation <saw through his pretense of indifference>
              Enjoy.

You have to understand it's "her turn" to be in charge. The way the party pretty much crowned her from the beginning is ridiculous.

The same was said in 2008.

It was an idea conceived at least as early at 2004 when Bush won again. I think it's possible that people admired her ability to keep right on going in the face of a bunch of over confident conservatives saying the Dems would never win again.

How long before we get Chelsea? lol.

My point was that nothing is inevitable.

                      Especially in politics.

Although the Republican field made the likelihood of her winning the presidency far more likely.

True. But I consider that extremely unlikely.
