    N. Korea Claims Successful Development of ICBM

    N. Korea Claims Successful Development of ICBM
Anchor: North Korea on Tuesday launched a ballistic missile into the East Sea from its west coast. North Korean state-media said that the regime succeeded in developing an inter-continental ballistic missile. Dubbed the Hwasong-14, the North claimed that it can hit any target around the globe.
    Kim Bum-soo has more.

Report: It was 9:40 a.m. Tuesday when South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) detected a ballistic missile launch from North Korea.

The JCS said that the missile flew more than 930 kilometers toward the East Sea from its launch site near Banghyeon, North Pyongang Province.

Military sources suggested that the projectile could have been an inter-continental ballistic missile(ICBM), noting that the projectile reached an altitude of over two-thousand-500 kilometers before descending.

Some six hours after the launch, North Korea's state-run Korean Central Television(KCTV) carried an announcement that the regime has succeeded in developing an inter-continental ballistic missile.

Missile experts said that the technical specifics mean that the missile can fly six-thousand 700 kilometers, or far enough to hit Alaska, if fired at a standard angle.

Let's just say it was Fat Baby's own little contribution to 4th of July fireworks for Independence Day, ha ha.

We all knew it was only a matter of time before they were able to launch a missile capable of reaching a US state, but I gotta say I didn't expect them to have a successful launch so soon.

It's still not much of a threat, but it's proof that the Norks aren't going to back down any time soon, no matter how much Donald Trump blusters or Xi Jingping panders.

Pentagon says North Korea's ICBM was new missile, unseen before

The Pentagon on Wednesday described North Korea's recently launched intercontinental ballistic missile as a new type of missile that "we've not seen before," and condemned the launch as escalatory and destabilizing.
Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis told a news briefing that the ICBM was fired from a mobile launcher and confirmed the presence of a re-entry vehicle on top of it.

I was listening to CBS news on the radio. She said it was an "international ballistic missile) but more surprisingly she said that it went almost 600 miles and too 38 minuted from launch to land. I would have thought that ICBMs went a little faster than that.

I think the short distance traveled over time is because it was at an incredibly steep trajectory. It basically went straight up and straight back down. Fired at a more normal angle, they believe it could hit Alaska. I'm sure the brown bears are quaking in their paws.

Yes, it went very high, which, given ballistic missile dynamics, is the measure of how far it could go.

Accuracy is another issue, and we don't know much about that. But they've taken a large stride forward with this one, no doubt.
                Enjoy.
