    What's For Dinner (6/28/19) Edition

I've got nothing. It's hot here (it snowed last weekend).

I'm guessing cold cut sandwiches and Greek salad. I stared at pork loin today. Stared and left.

Cream cheese and olive sandwiches, with cucumbers and onions on the side.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

Mr. Snaps instantly determined that a delicious cold cut sandwich on herb and garlic bread with a feta cheese and Kalamata olive side salad was inadequate.

Now I will be confronted with a 7-layer burrito from Taco Bell. I don't even know what that is precisely. It sounds daunting.

      Jack is thrilled.

One of those layers is chihuahua.

Well, if it tastes like chicken, I'll be fine.

I feel like the 7 layer burrito was wasted on me. I could not detect the layers. It was too big. Jack liked it.

I ate a regular taco. That was fine. Mr. Snaps bought some "crunch" item. It seemed just like Taco Bell's "nacho" item but less colorful. Jack approved it but he eats bugs.

Pasta with venison marinara sauce, salad, bread and a spicy red wine.

You were the kid the other kids punched, amiright?

                That actually sounds delicious.

Nope. I sharpened all my friend's knives and fought with hickory sticks. Also, back then my idea of haute cuisine was the Great American Hamburger where if you could eat the Giant Burger and pound of fries you got it free. (I don't recall if anyone ever did).

Anyway the pasta, with a delightful Shiraz, was excellent.

I'd skip the wine but you obviously made the better choice. I'm still not sure what the "crunch" item was supposed to be. Thankfully, I'll be going to a real restaurant tomorrow.

Bundled meal #3 & #4 because of an invite to a friends house for a get together of folks we mostly had not met yet. Host is a bachelor air force fighter pilot and the food was pulled pork, chili, full table of snacks of every variety and an 8 foot table of booze that would make any bar proud. Our invite came via Crossfit as the host is part owner of our box and writes the programming.

Most interesting facet of the evening was that 90% of the people there (all way younger than us) introduced themselves with a first name and then their call sign. Absolutely normal for them but we felt like we were in a scene from Topgun. Joyce, being Joyce, wanted to make up some goofy call signs for us. I relented. They take that shit seriously.

I'm usually terrible at remembering names in a gathering of newly met folks but for some reason names like, Crush, Stitch, Ramrod, Biff, Hawkeye, all stuck in my memory like glue.

What did Joyce choose for you? Was it something involving vampires or men who enjoy sheep "too" much?

No choice. I told her no way. These guys went through a lot of shit to get their call signs. I wouldn't invade their culture. We've worked out with two of them. Respect, both ways, is no issue.

Bambi Griller might work though. Joyce has always been "The Ant" for lifting 10 times her body weight all day long.
