    The C-Word Movie Review thread

Ok, we are all stuck at home and looking for ways to occupy our time.
For some of us, they may include indulging in Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime in search of diversionary material.
    Which I have been doing.

Let me tell you folks, a lot of it just plain sucks. I think I have now found at least 10 Bruce Willis movies that went direct to video and they did for a reason.

So in order to spare our fellow board members and memberettes the wasted time and mental anguish of pouring through this cultural wasteland, we should use this time to cease any other undue suffering.

    First Up...

    10 Minutes Gone
    Released 2019
Running time 1 hour 28 minutes
    Bruce Willis, Michael Chiklis
Plot - Safecracker (Chiklis) with a head injury looks for traitor that set him up.

OK, I gave this one 10 minutes and I was gone. According to IMDb, Willis filmed his parts in 1 afternoon from his hotel room and probably still made more than my next 5 years combined gross income. He wasn't in the first 10 minutes that I remember, so I can't really judge his performance but hey, it's Bruce Willis, shaved head and all.

Now you could say that 10 minutes is not enough to judge the entire movie.
    You may be right.
It's a gamble I am willing to take.

Overall, if it is a choice between this and Back To The Future 2 for the 193rd time, go for the known entity. Plus, Lea Thompson looked kinda hot. Chiklis and Willis, not so much.
    We are so fucked.

    My Stepfather (2009)

The film was directed by Nelson McCormick and stars Dylan Walsh, Sela Ward, Penn Badgley, Amber Heard and Jon Tenney. Lifetime.

Homicidal serial stepdad terrorizes Utah family. Tequila, bikinis, and female angst feature prominently.

I'd give it 3 ice cream spoons up. Maybe half a glass of chardonnay.

I watched a piss poor war movie last week. The sniper shot an enemy soldier with the bolt of his rifle open.

      Lol.

You sure it wasn't a Mauser action with the T-bolt that sticks awkwardly straight out?

Not real clear but pretty sure. It was a terrible movie, accuracy wise.

Keeping up with the Joneses was surprisingly entertaining.

            Gal Gadot!

In fact that fat bearded guy from The Hangover was actually not annoying.

6 Underground. Ryan Reynolds and a bunch of other people that are probably famous but I"m out of the loop on Hollywood. Heavy on the action and shoot em up. Good music. Billionaire turned vigilante. Some good humor in spots. Very entertaining. On Netflix. I saw it. before the forced hibernation, but have rewatched. It's worth it.

I can no longer even watch movies. Whether it's a zombie apocalypse movie, WWII, some "women's movie" from the 50s, or a comedy, all I can think about is those people are eating dinner in a restaurant and they aren't wearing any dumb masks.

Even with something as depressing as the miniseries 'The Stand', Larry (now useless one-hit pop wonder) and Nadine (future Devil bride and righteous suicide) had dinner in a freaking restaurant in NYC!

Sure, the food was starting to rot and there was no power and they were surrounded by insane people and criminals but they were eating out!

Okay, I'll take my pills now.

Yeah, it's so weird to see people acting "pre-covid" in movies and t.v. It can be jarring sometimes.
