I switched Internet when I noticed some new work being done in the neighborhood and Spectrum finally pissed me off for the last time by shutting off their service for maintenance without any warning - then throttling it the next day without any explanation.
Fuck it, I switched. 2 days later I got the Frontier Fiber Optic Gigabit for cheaper than I was paying for 150 mbps.
Holy shit it's fast! I knew I'd never get true Gigabit, but my latest speed tests are in the 600-700 mpbs range. Using a VPN in South America I downloaded 1.6 GB movie in about 5 minutes. The best I could do before was an 50 minutes. Then I shut off the VPN and tried another title and downloaded a 1.5 GB movie in 39 seconds a few minutes ago.
WOW!
I was paying $221 for cable and internet. I asked earlier how much my Internet would be if I cancelled my cable and they said $90 (new customers get it for $45 - heh). New internet with Frontier is $80 - and easily 10x faster.
