The drenching rain finally let up in time for HRH and the big dog to take their nightly hike (they put in about a mile and a half up and down hill unless it's pouring). The neighbors, undaunted by the deluge, had been having a NYE party all day that lasted until they rang in the new year, at which time we were already abed. No complaints - they're a big Latino family, and every occasion involves music and kids and, as far as I can tell, little to no alcohol, and it's always a happy noise. Someone in the neighborhood was shooting off fireworks around 11:30, but that also stopped at midnight; while illegal, it was very reasonable, and hardly a fire hazard after all this rain.
We skipped First Night this year, since it was still raining pretty heavily early in the evening. Next year.

Laura and I had a fantastic time at Disney Springs, walking distance from our Hotel. We bar hopped, watched great music on 5 different stages, made resort friends, and rang in the new year by one of the lakes watching the fireworks from both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot at the same time. Played Friday night with my country band, had a smashing good time.
Played N Y Eve with the bar band, had an even better night, got home about 1:30.
Today at least three of us have sniffles and congestion. I tested negative for the Wuhan cooties, but the C&W singer tested positive, so tomorrow I'll get the 48 hour test. I think I mostly need some sleep, which is hard to get with a chest cold. We'll see.
We had tickets to a show this afternoon, dang it.
