52 and cloudy here at 9:15 AM PST. The weather worriers are predicting 3 more "atmospheric rivers" with more flooding. In the last round, a huge wave took the back end off a house out on the point in Carmel, and the Santa Cruz area has sustained some major damage. OTOH, my attorney is 2 blocks from the waterfront in Santa Cruz, and she assures me they're in the office and have power and everything, so if the roads aren't too crazy, I'll run up there next week to pick up my trust documents.
Our ancient fence developed some loose boards, partly due to the wetness and wind, but I suspect the arborists who worked on the next-door neighbors trees a couple of weeks ago may have also put some stress on it that wasn't apparent until things got soggy. I'm now very glad I told them no, they could not get up on my roof to trim the tree that overhangs my side yard. I shudder to think what damage they might have done up there.
I mostly love our microclimate, but I confess I could stand some sunshine and warmer weather. Of course, this is one of Northern/Central California's 2 seasons, the rainy season, so I'll just ride it out. It's all worth it when we get about 8 months of sunny and temperate, while the inland areas are sweltering.
