Well, that's only fair. Guys don't like bras on women, either. We try to get them off as quickly as possible.

I think it's very odd that women are expected to wear hobbles. But I still appreciate it when they do.

    Enjoy.

Okay. I don't like guys with waxed eyebrows. How's that?

That's sexist. Why can't guys wax their eyebrows?

And why can't they wear dresses without being girls?

Kilts do look good on guys - including the work kilt which I see from time-to-time out here:

But amount of bare leg you see with these things is pretty minimal.

Why? That woman's feet look as tortured as they probably are. The shoes make her veins stand out. Healthy feet in cute little strappy flat sandals are much sexier, IMO.

I don't think it's an "obligation" nearly so much as it is just a reasonable expectation of the suited. If I'm going to approach PG for a date, it's hardly her fault for turning me down if I haven't bathed in three weeks and my hair resembles an unkempt shrubbery. She has no obligation to accept a suitor's request from me even if I look like Richard Gere in a tuxedo, either, but if I approach her and I look like shit, then it's completely asinine for me to think that she may accept my entreaty.

By the same token, it's fairly unlikely that she will attract me to approach her if she looks like some bag lady who has been on crack for a couple of years, either.

BUT, maybe PG likes the "mountain man" look. Maybe I like the "unkempt" look: indeed, there is some truth to that: I have always been turned off by women who wear any significant amount of makeup, for example. All that eye liner and mascara and eye shadow and whatever is just a big turn-off to me, and always has been.

This whole article seems to be basically predicated upon the notion that someone has some obligation to ever attract a mate in the first place. That presumption is simply incorrect.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

LOLOL, did the leg shaving thing religiously most of my adult life, in addition to always - no matter the temperature- wearing stockings.
BUT ----wised up and decided there is no reason for it. Nobody sees my legs so who cares?

I think the unibrow could be the only exception. Please don't ask for photos.
May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

I think that might be the problem and I perpetuated it. "Obligation" is the wrong word here - it implies a burden or quid pro quo. I don't think most people see it that way.

I don't dress to impress my husband 24/7 neither do I dress to attract attention from strangers. On the other hand, I'm aware of what I look like in public and private. I don't appear as though I'm going to paint the doors unless I really am painting doors that day.

Part of this is self-image. Like everybody, I have one. Mine involves looking appropriate for the occasion even if the occasion is eating popcorn with Mr. Snaps on some random night. Part of it fashion - I sew and I'm well aware of trends as well as what looks good on me. Part of it is vanity - I don't look good to myself in ratty jeans and some ill-fitting tee-shirt.

But part of it is to stay in touch with the care I took before Mr. Snaps and I got married. He appreciated the look then and he appreciates it now.

It's a complicated question which is why I thought it was interesting.
