I had to go to a Petsmart on some tedious pet-related chore this morning and I met this cat. They have that adoption area and I was breezing by it when I heard this cat talking. I say "talking" instead of crying or meowing because I have a sordid history of talky cat ownership. I know the difference.
This was an unremarkable-looking gray and white tabby. Five months old, female, on the smallish side. Not a looker.
Sadly, I approached the cat and we engaged in the kind of "conversation" only talky cats and their people understand. There was some petting. Perhaps some reaching-through-the-prison-bars. I wrenched myself away and got on with my business.
Unfortunately, I disclosed this encounter to Mr. Snaps who instantly went into cat rescue mode. After spending the best part of the day erecting infrastructure in the backyard, he was hot to drive to Petsmart and acquire this cat.
Xena is doing much better now on the raw thing but she's 14 and I expect Mr. Snaps wants to acquire a potential replacement. The dogs don't care about cats. The cat doesn't care about cats (she's lived with other cats before).
I told him we needed to sleep on this decision. Actually, we need to get emergency therapy or some kind of prayer warrior intervention.
So, why should I get this cat? Why shouldn't I get this cat? Feel free to use pix to illustrate your position.[
