Philly cheesesteaks, Wawa hoagies, and soft pretzels are getting more expensive. Blame inflation.
Holiday shoppers are grappling with rising prices as inflation takes its toll: ‘Everything seems more expensive’
While health experts are telling Americans that they can once again look forward to holiday togetherness if they’re vaccinated, the economy is another story.
We did it, Brandon.

Wisconsin shoppers shocked by the higher prices on Thanksgiving favorites
You put Brandon in office...suck it.KENOSHA, Wis. – Wisconsin shoppers told Fox News they are battling higher prices and supply shortages on Thanksgiving staples, especially turkey.
"I just can’t imagine how everything is so much more expensive than it used to be around the holiday season," one woman told Fox News as she exited a grocery store.
Once again, I miss the mean tweets.Meanwhile, consumer prices are up 6.2% compared to last year, the Labor Department reported last week.Once you vote yourselves into Communism, you must shoot your way out.

Inflation, supply-chain disruptions are hurting Philly food banks and low-income people
Increases in food costs, coupled with disruptions in the food supply chain, are hitting low-income people hard as the holiday season begins.
We did it, Brandon.Already living lives of deprivation, people in poverty are finding themselves being squeezed in new ways.
“Higher food prices and supply-chain disruptions are a problem for everyone,” said Geraldine Henchy, director of nutrition policy for the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) in Washington, D.C., the largest anti-hunger lobby in America. “But they’re a particular problem for people who live in food deserts,” forced to shop in corner stores.
Philabundance has gone from budgeting $120,000 a month for food acquisition in fiscal year 2020 to $850,000 a month in fiscal year 2021, Jones said. And it’s budgeting $1.6 million a month for fiscal year 2022.
First of all, inflation has increased food prices. The USDA says food cost is up 5%, but Jones said it’s gone as high as 15% (Matysik of Share says 30%), and in some cases, foods have doubled and even tripled in price within the last year, according to economists.

I noticed over Thanksgiving, only because I actually stopped and thought about it, that eggs have doubled in price over the last year (less than a year, actually; more like ten months). Now, granted, that's not a huge deal, but I eat a lot of eggs due to dietary requirements (basically: "eat every bit of protein that you can shove into your body"). And yeah, eggs going from 81¢/dozen to $1.63/dozen isn't going to break me, but I think about those few people who actually do use SNAP as it's intended and the grandmother down the street living on Social Security and her husband's railroad pension and those pennies do count for those people, who never envisioned this kind of Carter-era mess ever coming around again.Originally posted by JB View PostInflation, supply-chain disruptions are hurting Philly food banks and low-income people

Now, she'll be all right, and I'll be all right, but there are a whole lot of people who won't be all right. Prior to living here, I lived in a predominantly Black neighborhood, the overwhelming majority of whom were "elderly," in the sense that they were old enough to draw Social Security. There was a very nice lady, Emma, who lived directly across the street, and I used to help her out all the time. Not really sure why I got singled out for this duty, but I was happy to do it. Emma had done everything right and still lost at life's roulette table: her husband died months before he was vested in his pension, she got injured and eventually couldn't work at her job anymore due to health issues, you name it. At the end of the day, she was in public housing and got $465/month or whatever from Social Security, and that's all she was ever going to get. So I helped her budget that out, and we went shopping all over everywhere to find the very best deals on pretty much anything from chicken thighs to mayonnaise. And when the check came, I picked Emma up and drove her all over town to help her shop for stuff, a month's menu planned well in advance. We'd go around the store and say "this is on the list, so let's get this can of beans and that can of tomato sauce and we'll have a bean party tonight!" And at the end of the day of shopping, she had exactly enough groceries to ensure that she never went hungry and always had reasonably nutritious food to eat (not doritos and soda; real food that would actually constitute a meal). And I looked in onn her every few days, trying to balance between being a good neighbor and being a nosy snoop, and she was overall doing well, right up to the day that I moved out, and I told her to call me if she ever needed anything. She did indeed call a couple of times, once because she couldn't quite figure out her budget (turns out it was a simple math error) and a couple of times because she needed a ride to the store (and, I think, she just wanted a little companionship).
I haven't talked to Emma in over a year: I've had my own health issues to deal with, as everyone here knows, but assuming that she's still alive and kicking, I'm guessing that infiation is making her life miserable. We had everything budggeted out to the penny at the time. She would have $2.64 leftover at the end of the month, which she dutifully depsoted into a savings account at a local, Black-owned bank, bearing a small amount of interest for her (infant) grandson, He was never going to get rich off of it, but maybe in 15 years or so he would have enough to make a down payment on a car.
Now, the point of all of this is that the people least able to take brunt of al of this are, in fact, the ones who are forced to take the brunt of all of this. Elizabeth Warren and Nancy Pelosi don't care if eggs cost 82¢ more per dozen, or if it now costs $75 to fill your gas tank to get to work instead of $45, because it just plain dooesn't mater to them. But it matters a whole lot to people like Emma and ultmatetely to people like me and people here. It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

California's over $5/gallon, but our state government has been aiming for that for a long time. They want to outlaw driving entirely. Of course, they won't address the fact that this hits hardest at those who are most vulnerable. Try getting around on public transit - even good public transit - if you're significantly disabled. If you're a poor single parent, try getting all your kids to school on time and in time for you to get to your menial job on the bus.Originally posted by JB View Post"Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. This has nothing yo do with climate... cooling... ozone depletion.. warming.. change
For God's sake doesn't anyone remember all the iterations?
IT'S ABOUT TRANSFER OF POWER PERIOD
If the 'Greens' can convince enough people that WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE IF WE ......
They can force a transfer of power from those who control carbon energy to those who want to control 'green' energy without the intermediate technological steps.
The conversion isn't technically viable at present.
For christs sake we didn't convert from feet to horses to trains, planes and automobiles in a generation.
Robert Francis O'Rourke, Democrat, White guy, spent ~78 million to defeat, Ted Cruz, Republican immigrant Dark guy and lost
But the Republicans are racist.
