The Danger More Republicans Should Be Talking About

White-supremacist ideology is harmful to all, especially the naive and defenseless minds of youth.
    By Ibram X. Kendi

    ...

The more that white kids swallow white-supremacist memes—and like and share them—the more they are introduced to troubling and extreme material. The algorithms for social-media apps and search engines enable this “‘slow roll’ process,” researchers told Insider. Just like innocently inviting a stranger into a multiplayer game or chat room, innocently liking a “funny” meme can lead children into a dangerous hole of white-supremacist ideology. While in the hole, youth may be “groomed” through direct messages that are sent en masse by white supremacists. “You see 30-somethings talking to 14-year-olds and kind of grooming them for the far-right ideology,” the far-right-extremism researcher Miro Dittrich told Insider.

Instead of focusing on this very real threat, Republican politicians—to justify Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law—have cited QAnon conspiracy theories about public schools being overrun by child predators who are “grooming” children to be gay. A spokesperson for Governor Ron DeSantis reframed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill as an “anti-grooming” bill. But if QAnon Republicans really cared about white children, then they would be worried about white-supremacist grooming. This is the grooming that parents of all children should be worried about.

So apparently grooming isn't limited to specific activity regarding sexual abuse. Looks like progressives understand this now, so it's back to "Republicans are racist."

You gave it a shot Bqk, but your dismissals did not succeed.

    Scare quotes and everything.

This is the essay that inspired a different thread nearby, Whatever happened to. . . - Not Everything is Political (notpolitical.info)

It's basically an exercise in academic upside-down thinking, and it's just about the only tool the racist left still has.

      ---------------------------------------------

Yesterday I was reading through some corporate annual statement stuff, the letter from the president of Wells Fargo comes to mind, and I noticed a familiar and venerable tradition. Photos show the CEO meeting the Dir. of Human Resources; the CFO meeting with some Diversity exec. Invariably the latter is black, by appearances, the former a white guy. Smiles all around. I looked up a couple of other corporations and found the same.

I'm reminded of street names. If you're on Martin Luther King Blvd you're in a black neighborhood. In the old days, Lincoln or Carver were the black schools, "colored" in those days. Integration came along and the school principals would be white, the asst. principals black. I remember some young smartass complaining that we had moved blacks from "second class citizens" to "assistant citizens."

Ah, the tradition continues. Maybe I'll find a Director of the Center for Antiracist Research who's a white man, but I doubt it.

I doubt there's a more uniform mindset enforced anywhere outside of North Korea than in those little academic warrens such as inhabited by Professor Ibram X. Kendi.

We posted the story at almost the same time but had different takes on it for sure.

Along with your point I've noticed that mostly white woke liberals always have some near top position for women and people of color - but they rail against any woman or person of color that has actually gotten to the top unless they put him or her there.

It's similar to how tolerant white woke liberals are to Muslims in the Middle East - despite the overt and obvious racism and misogyny. It's illegal to even be gay in most of the Middle East and the left tolerates that and rails against the only place it's acceptable to be gay, Israel.
