    evangelical

    There are Jehovah's Witnesses working the parking lot at Mi Pueblo grocery store a couple of nights a week.

    I was just wondering if any of you have ever known or even heard of someone becoming a JW or a Mormon after being evangelized.
    The year's at the spring
    And day's at the morn;
    Morning's at seven;
    The hill-side's dew-pearled;
    The lark's on the wing;
    The snail's on the thorn:
    God's in his heaven—
    All's right with the world!

    I used to know a guy that became Mormon to marry a Mormon chick. That's a pretty extreme form of evangelism. You can really only hook one that way (for the women, at least).
    Enjoy.

      I don't know of anyone who has converted via this method, no.

        Once in a great while I hear of someone converting. We have a large Mormon community and JW community in Nevada. They often leave their tracts all over our waiting room at work.

        Of the two, Mormon conversions are more frequent, yet both are rare.

          Everyone has a hobby. Mine is collecting those when I see them in public places and putting them in the nearest trash receptacle. I despise littering.
          "Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)

            There is a certain fabulousness to the Mormon Tabernacle. JW kingdom hall is just dreary.

                Every house of worship should have a golden horny Moroni right on the tippy top.

                  Sure, some evangelicals join the LDS and some LDS join evangelical churches. It's not a huge number but there is plenty of crossing.

                  Some do it for marriage and some do it for theological reasons.

                  I'm unaware of much conversion to the Jehovah's Witnesses although there has always been some converting away from that group and they also often join evangelical OR LDS groups. Mostly depending on who they know and the church mix where they happen to live.

                  Even if you are not particularly religious, the LDS lifestyle is very attractive to many people. It's clean, sober, family-oriented, social, and very caring. The same is true for many, but not all, evangelical groups.

                  The JWs are a little different. Not only do they use a different Bible version but their lifestyle takes some getting used to - especially for kids.

                    Somebody must or they wouldn't keep doing it.

                      At this point, it's mostly show. The JWs are losing members in the West but gaining some in other areas. They are appealing in third world contexts since they don't smoke, drink, beat women, gamble, or engage in other destructive behaviors. Women especially are attracted, as one might imagine.

                        I have a JW neighbor. I debated her and her mother about whether Hell existed using the bible they say they believe in. They were fascinated that I knew parts of the bible so well and said I seemed very open. I sort of got away. lol.

                          Good for you! I always invite them in if I have time. I use my own Bible, of course.

                            All the adult JWs that I knew drank like fishes. When others were celebrating holidays with celebrations, the JWs would simply get jacked up on booze.

                              Well, there are bad apples everywhere. The ones I've known seem to lead extremely dull lives but who knows?
