    The Liberal Lie So Big It May One Day Split the Country

    Boy, does this guy nail it. While the entire article is good, this paragraph is the "money shot".
    Yes, it may currently give liberals some small temporary political advantage to claim that everyone who doesn’t support gay marriage hates gays, everyone who doesn’t think rape culture exists supports rape, that everyone who doesn’t back free birth control for women hates them, everyone who wants to stop illegal immigration hates Latinos and that everyone who doesn’t want to tear down Confederate statues hates black Americans, but it also injects pure poison into our culture.

    If you believe someone doesn’t want kids to have healthcare, hates gays, hates women, hates minorities and wants more rapes to happen, you will probably detest that person. However, liberals seldom consider that the reverse of this is also true. You will also probably detest people who falsely accuse you of not wanting kids to have healthcare, hating gays, hating women, hating minorities and wanting more rapes to happen. In the Palestinian territories or Syria, there might be significant numbers of people who believe many of those aforementioned beliefs. In America, there are very few. What this means is that there are large numbers of people liberals have inspired hatred towards via falsehoods and also large numbers of people who’ve grown to abhor liberals after being targeted by their lies.

    Put another way, liberals are CREATING an America where it’s natural to HATE people of differing political views. Not disagree with, HATE.

    Poor guy. Got his feelers hurt.

    BTW, author of the piece, apathy is not enmity. Just a heads up.

      The left has smeared MILLIONS of people with these false charges. Good and moral people. And yep, they got their feeling hurt by the LIE that the left has laid at their feet.

      And rightly so. The left can push the hate, no skin off my nose. But they might regret it someday.

          I'm genuinely curious about this: do you actually encounter - you, personally, not your wife or your cousin or your son or your former Sunday-school teacher - any of these vicious liberals in real life, or do you only experience them over the internet and other media?
          "Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)

            I have liberal friends and family accuse me of hating brown people for my stance on immigration. They might just as well come out and say "you're a racist".

              Emergency care, be it for children or adults, is not the same as healthcare. When I was traveling and then taking up residence in California I was warned by my Primary's office manager that my insurance would only cover emergent care. I went four months without having a Primary, a dermatologist, or a nephrologist.

              The hill-side's dew-pearled;
              The lark's on the wing;
              The snail's on the thorn:
              God's in his heaven—
              All's right with the world!

                  I'd like to chew on that word healthcare for a moment. As a compound word it's new, and seems to mean such health care as is subsidized by the government or covered by insurance.

                  Our conception and attitudes have changed entirely in the last century, from the days of Teddy Roosevelt particularly. We are much closer now to believing we are entitled to the best remedies known, regardless of where we are or what our circumstances are. We're much less likely to be content with a cold compress and a sympathetic attendant while our city cousin gets some high tech intervention for the same disorder.

                  Is everyone with kidney problems entitled to the services of a nephrologist? How about simple dialysis?

                  Once you remove any necessity of prioritizing needs on the part of the patient, the answer, when push comes to shove, it very likely Yes! And of course cost becomes uncontrollable.

                  The government answer will be screening by various criteria. Call it death panels if you wish, but standards of eligibility are inevitable. Maybe when you reach the age of ninety your dialysis subsidy ends; or maybe it ends if one or two other organs are compromised. Who knows?

                  The alternative is also keyed to money. If you weren't able or chose not to cover possible kidney failure in whatever health insurance you began, you could be stuck with the bill from the get-go, regardless of age.

                  A regular Scylla and Charybdis, if you ask me. And when we fashion some sort of compromise, giving a pound of flesh to each, I don't imagine we'll collectively be much happier.

                  As long as we keep ratcheting up expectations it will only worsen. (The Democrats have long been laboring constantly to raise those expectations, Bernie Sanders and his Free! shtick being just the latest iteration, but Republicans have a habit of endorsing every entitlement, and just dragging their feet as if that's going to change the direction of the march.)

                        That's all well and good if you're content with millions of Americans having 19th Century medicine at their disposal, but, newsflash, it's the 21st Century and shit is a lot more complicated and a lot more expensive.

                        If you got cancer in 1895 you just died without anyone knowing why; today very expensive treatments buy you 20 years. Call me crazy, but that's a benefit to mankind that ought to be spread around.

                        The whole thing about death panels is BS anyway. You don't think the same decisions aren't meted out by insurance companies now? I don't think a fiscal quarter goes by without someone in my extended family being denied some treatment or medicine because the insurance says it's not going to pay for it. When the alternative is "something expensive but it doesn't work" you're basically back to 'a cold compress and sympathetic attendant' levels of healthcare.
