May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

Never thought I'd say this, but Rubio is looking (acting) very like a statesman. He has at least a year to start looking like a Presidential candidate. Especially with the Democratic Party apparently contemplating a re-run.
"Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)

The odd man out (of the 3, Rubio, Vance, and...) is Ron DeSantis. He's been a great governor, but lest we forget, he was a wooden campaigner. If Trump is followed by a Republican White House, maybe DeSantis will be a high-ranking cabinet member.

He has been an effective governor, but the recent charity scandal would be a concern, especially since he lacks the charisma to overcome it, IMO. I also dislike some of his positions, but I'm not part of his target audience. I doubt he would play as well on the national stage as he has in FL, certainly compared to Rubio.

DeSantis really proved himself managing storm crises early in his tenure. He has toed a very conservative line and notably resisted the covid autocrats.

I haven't been following the charity scandal, and you're right I'm sure that it would dog any future electoral campaign. And while I know Republicans are held to a different standard than Democrats, it's hard to imagine that the Party of Clinton and the Bidens would chew on that charity bone to any effect.
