Outstanding thread to re-read when you have the time
I forgot about how Trump went from a cunning and shrewd manipulative marketer to retarded puppet and Hitler clone.
Apparently, it's about three steps.
The funny part is the "Russian asset" angle.
"Faith is nothing but a firm assent of the mind : which, if it be regulated, as is our duty, cannot be afforded to anything but upon good reason, and so cannot be opposite to it."
-John Locke
"It's all been melded together into one giant, authoritarian, leftist scream."
-Newman
"Grievance groups are playing King of the Hill."

I've come to like Trump. Maybe it's the underdog thing. Maybe its because the liberals hate him so much. Maybe it's because he is not afraid. I don't agree with his extreme positions.. Like no Muslims let in or pro choice. But I like him and his attitude. He actually loves our country and our citizens. That alone is a nice change. I still will probably vote for Cruz in the primaries.. But if its Trump v. Hillary or Bernie..its easy for me.
Yet you ignored these points in the same post. Well done.

Yes. That was exactly why. And it still is.
I don't think you really understand what happened here. Nobody would vote for a bad candidate simply because leftists lost their tiny minds over the guy/gal.
We're so used to the unrelenting hate and mockery in so many venues for what we like that we can barely detect the effort any more. It's literally "noise" in the political noise-to-signal ratio at this point.
People voted for him because he wasn't a standard politician. Standard politicians are simply 21st century aristocrats and they act like it from the school board to the White House. People wanted something different. They still do.
One of the reasons leftists were (and remain) so utterly blindsided by Trump is that they literally lack the capacity to think like somebody who would vote for Trump. I understand very well why somebody would vote for Clinton, Sanders, or Biden. I don't agree but I do understand the reasoning.
Leftists simply can't understand why anybody would vote for Trump unless they were neo-Nazis or oppressed by neo-Nazis (in the case of women or minorities). It's this blindness that will probably hand him another victory.

First of all, I am so happy to not be in that thread. lol.
I can understand why people voted for Trump over Hilary Clinton if they agree more with his politics or if they simply felt like he was the lesser of the two evils.
I'm not understanding those people who wanted him so badly in the first place. You can be "not a politician" and not be as full of hate as Trump is. He put down Mexicans as rapists. He put down a journalist regarding his disability. He puts down women (present tense). He suggested that Ted Cruz's father might have been involved with the JFK assassination. He found what was supposedly Lindsay Graham's number and advertised it. I don't understand why people want that type of anger and hatred. Even my very conservative former pastor said he felt like America had to be full of hate to want Trump (but yet he voted for Trump later on).
I don't understand why voters fell for the idea that Mexico would build us a wall.
I don't understand why conservatives see him as a true conservative and all the much more conservative people as fake conservatives. He wants big, huge, big brother government. That's not conservative and nobody cares.
I don't understand why Trump has constantly gotten away with stuff that would have gotten leftists ripped a new butthole. He blamed Bush for 911 happening. He has insulted troops on more than one occasion. Can you imagine how online conservatives would react if a DUer said "I wish I could have gotten a purple heart. It would have been easier." They would hit the roof, but Trump gets away with it.
The truth is Trump could pass universal healthcare tomorrow and have the praise of most conservatives and I don't understand it.

Why did some people vote for Trump?
1. Hillary
2. Supreme Court.
Not where I breathe, but where I love, I live...
Robert Southwell, S.J.
Did you read the rest of that? My God, we saw a rational person come to terms with an irrational choice right before our eyes. We saw a person who has spoken reverently about POWs speak favorably about a man who trashed them. It was an awful thing to see.
Trump love this country? Trump loves himself. A savant when it comes to human nature like Philly saying that was terrible. It was heartbreaking.

Journalist Selena Zito famously summed up President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign when she wrote, "The press takes him literally, but not seriously; his supporters take him seriously, but not literally."
This statement is pretty much true. The press and some interested leftists hang on Trump's every word. They avidly follow his tweets. They mistake his jokes for statements of intent. It goes on and on. He has an off-the-cuff style of speaking that I have certainly run into often in my professional life and it's easy to decode. (I have personally never even seen Trump's twitter account.)
I don't really care what he says since all politicians in my lifetime exaggerate or outright lie. I only care what he does and he's done more of what I want than any other since I've been able to vote.
Has he done everything I want? Nope. Is he doing any of it on my preferred time table? Nope. So what? He's doing some of it despite incredible opposition which is more than most of the others ever did.

Just imagine if the Democrat platform was anything other than RESIST RESIST RESIST
Probably not. Most ardent Trump supporters either see it as bullshit and don't care or are changing the way they view the whole situation based on it not being a liberal saying it. It's similar to your fellow travelers and Obama. So many lies were just flat out obvious but none of you cared. It's similar to most Republicans when Bush created Medicare Part D. Smaller government mattered except when a Republican expanded it.

Oh, I have.
One thing I've thought of is Trump creating and leading a third party after he leaves office. If it was a pro-American, social justice-free practical party focused on economics and freedom, it would crush both current parties.
He's doing some of it despite incredible opposition ...
What unbelievable bullshit. The Senate (and the House prior to January) have abdicated their Constitutional duties to him. He says Canada is a threat to national security and does whatever the fuck he wants. Do we even have a confirmed Secretary of Defense?
You are delusional.
