    Trump postpones Denmark trip after Prime Minister refuses to discuss sale of Greenland

    So, I guess he's taking this Greenland thing pretty serious.

    Trump postpones Denmark trip after Prime Minister refuses to discuss sale of Greenland

    (CNN)Less than two weeks before his scheduled trip to Denmark, President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he has postponed his visit to Copenhagen after the Danish Prime Minister disputed his interest in buying Greenland as "absurd."

    "Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time," he wrote Tuesday night.

    He continued, "The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!"

    A White House official confirmed to CNN that the entire trip to Denmark is being scrapped.
    Enjoy.

      At some point you stop being appalled and just start wondering how stupid this gets. Because, it’s gotten pretty fucking stupid. But it always seems to get stupider.

        I don't understand why Trump wants Greenland so bad. It's the best example of why climate change is a problem for humans that exists on this entire planet. He'd have to be confronted with a rather uncomfortable fact. And we all know he is allergic to facts.

          Maybe he thinks there will be a lot of clear land to use once the ice has all melted. Or maybe he wants to secure a large supply of freshwater for the world-water-crisis near-future. Or maybe he thinks it's a way to create a legacy along the lines of Seward buying Alaska or Jefferson buying the Louisiana Purchase -- the real estate guy adding to the country's real estate. Or maybe he thinks it's a way to prevent Russia and China from putting up air bases too close to the continental US. I don't know. I thought it was a joke at first, and then I saw some Trumpsters defending it as reasonable and provisional and not so serious. And now here's Trump being outright offensive and pissy about it as if he took it pretty serious.
          Enjoy.

            Isn't he fabulous?
            The year's at the spring
            And day's at the morn;
            Morning's at seven;
            The hill-side's dew-pearled;
            The lark's on the wing;
            The snail's on the thorn:
            God's in his heaven—
            All's right with the world!

              To the cult, I suppose.

              If I asked what you think is fabulous here, I'm guessing your answer would be something about how effectively it "triggers the libs" or whatever the cult is calling it these days. Because, as I've often said, that is the one true core value of Trumpism. But, please, give me another reason it's "fabulous". Tell us how those fucking Danes deserve their comeuppance. Tell us how it's brilliant strategy. Tell us anything that shows you still have an independent neuron or two.

                Buying Canada makes more sense to me anyway.

                  We're driving down the value of Greenland as a negotiating tactic?

                  Just a guess.

                  As I recall it was named Greenland as an advertising ploy to begin with.

                  If we bought it, I guess we could say it's the New Greenland Deal.
