Ignorance is dangerous - Kash Patel allegedly fired Iran experts just before the attacks

Kash Patel Fired Entire Team of Iran Experts Right Before Trump’s War

They were let go during a purge of people who investigated Donald Trump for allegedly mishandling classified documents.

Kash Patel baselessly fired an elite team of agents specializing in foreign threats from the Middle East just days before Donald Trump launched an illegal military campaign in Iran.

Patel terminated a dozen employees and staff after accusing them—without providing evidence—of improperly investigating Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence. The FBI director specifically gutted a group known as CI-12, a counterintelligence unit tasked with monitoring threats from Iran and its proxies. Days later, Trump toppled Iran’s regime and sparked a sprawling regional conflict in the Middle East.

Besides the source (The New Republic), the writer ("Edith Olmsted is an associate writer for The New Republic with a Master’s degree from the Columbia Journalism School. She is based in New York City.") and such language as "baselessly" and "without evidence" from the get-go?

Crap journalism like "These latest firings have raised concerns ...."? Raised concerns on whose part? Ms Olmsted?

And though this is billed as "Breaking News," she finishes with more hair-on-fire on somebody's head, likely hers:
Patel’s decision to terminate his elite experts on Iran is just one of many elements of Trump’s decision to take the U.S. into war that feels unplanned, and leaves Americans exposed.
      Sez who, Emily?

We don't know the whole story, and we surely will not learn it from Ms Olmsted or TNR. I don't assume the firing was inadvertent, though. My personal suspicion is quite the opposite.

If we're attacking Iran, I don't trust deep state Iran experts in the FBI, who "investigated" the president in Jack Smith's illegitimate crusade, to work on our country's behalf honestly and diligently.

      Good riddance.

        From the CIA's website:

        Dear Molly,

What are a couple of the biggest differences between the @FBI and the @CIA?

        ~ Who’s Who

        * * * * *

        Dear Who’s Who,

Great question. Lots of people get the CIA and FBI confused.

The CIA’s mission is to collect foreign intelligence overseas, where as the FBI addresses domestic issues.

The CIA does not have law enforcement authority and does not collect information concerning the domestic activities of American citizens. (We do, however, have our own federal police force called the Special Protective Services who are responsible for protecting CIA employees and facilities).

The FBI, on the other hand, is the US government agency that investigates crimes on American soil and against American citizens abroad. The FBI is a law enforcement agency and is responsible for intelligence matters in the United States, especially those directed against US citizens. We do frequently work closely with the FBI, but our roles in keeping America safe are very different.

        Hope that helps clarify things!

The FBI's mission isn't part of a war strategy, it is a law enforcement organization. The FBI investigates crimes against US people. No counterintelligence task force focused on threats coming from Iran is going to help a bombing campaign.

Thanks, Scott. There was something rolling around in my brain about domestic on that that I couldn't quite put my finger on.

Side story. I went to college with a guy who was pretty much a dick. He was from Long Island. A pretty boy on steroids. Was a bouncer at the local bar. He ended up getting slapped with a Protection from Abuse Order by his ex girlfriend for stalking and probably some assault as well. He was an accounting major. Fast forward to 10 years after graduation and I'm at a wedding of one of his roommates. He's now turned super holy roller and has his nose high in the air because he works for the FBI. He was stationed, at the time, at either JFK or LaGuardia. I remembered the stories from when he was interviewing and he called his former roommates to "remind" them that he never did any drugs in college, and didn't over drink, etc. The one friend, who was from Orange NJ (which if you know anything about NJ, you know that Orange is not where the preppy pretty boys hang out and that it is an axiom that "snitches get stitches") told him, sure Charlie, I know what to say, no problem. Charlie continued to profess to his former roommate that this was not an ask, it was a reminder that in fact he didn't do any of those things. Again, sure, Charlie, I know the score, but let's not pretend I was there in the 80's. Anyway, I was speaking to him at the wedding about his very important job. He looked like MR. FBI AGENT. As usual, quite full of himself. I mentioned to him how great it was that he was an agent, but that, let's be real, he got in under Clinton, so the bar wasn't all that high. As usual, my friends (all of his former roommates) thought it was hysterical and he turned a few different shades of purple, wanting to tell me off but not wanting his sweet wife to see his former self in that moment.

THAT's FUNNY! I wonder if he actually turned over a new leaf or if he's one of the douchebags trying to hang on until he's eligible for retirement.

Not sure. I think the wife was the one leading the leaf turn. But I'm not sure he would ever be able to fully rid himself of his conceit. It was a very funny moment though. That group of guys always gave each other a really hard time about everything, so they absolutely enjoyed him getting skewered by me over what he thought for sure made him stand out to us!

He was so vain in college that every hair was perfectly in place. He would meticulously blow dry and then hair spray his hair each day. Freshman year dorms there was a guy who was just mercilous in his pranks (he later became a Christian Brother, go figure). He peed in Charlies hair spray bottle. Charlie never knew, but word was that he often checked the closet, thinking his dirty laundry was causing an off smell. But it was the 80's. No smell couldn't be overcome by a larger dose of Polo.

That's typically both, plus DHS agents too. Foreign threat from inside our country which is also a crime.
