The Irony is Too Rich - American Liberal in Europe

American Liberal in Europe Attacks Man with MAGA Hat, Faces Hate Crime Charges

In America leftists are currently fighting to end Freedom of Speech, based on the grounds that “hate speech” is not free speech. In Europe, free speech does not exist… just like the leftists want.

So a leftist American woman travels abroad, to Denmark and walks into a bar.

It's been awhile since you've been active here, this is a schtick of Newman's, alluding to the various leaders in the Democratic party increasing the use of foul language since Trump won. Here is Tom Perez, Chairman of the DNC.

But let's not trash a great thread about an American Liberal Idiot.

The "Language of Democrats" is my own, very specific phrase for the public vulgarity displayed by a number of prominent Democrats such as John Burton and Tom Perez. It followed hard on the heels of some garish displays by celebs such as Ashley Judd. It was a play on deliberate attempts by Dems to be more folksy, such as Howard Dean's "Language of NASCAR" offering. The crude "Language of Democrats" stopped as suddenly as it started. (I suspect some private polling showed some sour results for Sens. Gillibrand and Harris.) But this young potty mouth in Denmark earned it, Trish.

As I replay the video in my head, I think if she could tap dance her rant could have been set to a nice exit routine, sort of a fuckity fuckity fuckity fuck on the way out.

edit: Scott said it right, and more briefly. Almost everyone says things more briefly, but that's another story....

I do have a dark, sarcastic weasel in me that sometimes gets out, but let me ask you this: Do you think as I do that the sudden rash of public vulgarity was a deliberate attempt to corral the support of the extremely angry activist edge of the electorate? and likewise, do you think it was discontinued by a decision of the Party leadership?

I don't know if it was that or being sore losers. Unbecoming either way, and yes, I suspect the leadership told them to knock it off.

What gets old is the assertion that Democrats as a whole fit the "loony liberal" mold, or that all Democrats approve of offensive public language. As much as you may find her political positions unacceptable, I challenge you to imagine DiFi saying, "What the fuck is that about?" in public. From the podium, no less. Would. Not. Happen. Ditto Bill Nelson of Florida.

Haven't encountered her personally (as I have the 2 mentioned above), but I have a hard time picturing Claire McCaskill using "fuck" in a political speech. And they're not the only ones, even among elected Democrats.

When you get to the electorate, the broad brush fails even more. A lot of that "extremely angry activist edge " probably isn't even registered to vote. And those who are are concentrated in very visible places (like here). As soon as you get east of I-5 (and many places along the coast as well), there are Democrats whose big issues are irrigation rights, farm bills, and stupid gun laws that interfere with hunting to the extent that one local police officer told me he does all his hunting out of state now. Even in SF, there are church-going Democrats, Democrats who worry about the state of our schools, Democrats concerned about fiscal irresponsibility.

We've all seen how Adam and Scott get when they're hit with the "Republicans want granny to die" broad brush. Well, step back and take a look, people, because that sword cuts both ways, and good for Trish for calling it out.
