Bill Weld, Libertarian VP nominee, equates AR-15s with weapons of mass destruction

Bill Weld, the Libertarian vice presidential candidate — who by definition should be standing up for individual liberties — came down hard on firearms in an interview with Revolt TV, comparing AR-15 rifles with weapons of mass destruction.

“The five-shot rifle, that’s a standard military rifle; the problem is if you attach a clip to it so it can fire more shells and if you remove the pin so that it becomes an automatic weapon, and those are independent criminal offenses,” Mr. Weld said. “That is when they become, essentially, a weapon of mass destruction. The problem with handguns probably is even worse than the problem of the AR-15.”

Another example of how the Libertarian Party had me, and then lost me, all in the span of a few months.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

This may be 100% accurate reporting, but considering the source, I would prefer to read his entire statement before having my hissy fit.
"Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)
