    Trump speech at RNC

    Frankly the best he's looked since campaigning. I'm still not convinced enough to vote for him at this point. He's got a little over 3 months to convince me.

    He did good.

    Of course, most of the Democrats and "independents" won't know that, because they won't actually listen to his speech, they will wait for Rachel Maddow to tell them what he said and how they should feel about it.
    The year's at the spring
    And day's at the morn;
    Morning's at seven;
    The hill-side's dew-pearled;
    The lark's on the wing;
    The snail's on the thorn:
    God's in his heaven—
    All's right with the world!

      Joyce and I were roaring with laughter watching NBC Nghtly News tonight. Lester Holt was interviewing Donald JR about whether his Father ever cried for anyone other than family and then they cut to stock footage of Obama with police officers in Dallas. It was very weird editing. Lester was very well shut down by Donald JR. I watched Lester's interview with the Donald about three seeks ago and he was outright hostile and tried to continually talk over Trump. Amazingly Trump, the loose cannon, kept his cool.

      Nova, I would love to believe what I saw in that speech tonight but I still need some convincing. Regardless, I think the theme of the political outsider vs. the political insider of questionable integrity is a great tack to take for Trump.

          1) Speech too long
          2) Donald's head too big on trinitron
          3) Speech was so negative

            I don't know what our media overlords had to say about the speech but it was the talk of the pool this morning and that's pretty unusual. We mostly stick to swimming talk, the weather, kids, dogs, etc. Not today. Everybody was talking about the speech.

            Several people said that they had now switched from 'not sure' to 'maybe Trump' which I thought was interesting. About the only negative thing I heard was that it was too long.

            This isn't some scientific sample, of course, but he made an enough of an impression to side-track the normal pool chatter.

                The, other than Fox, stations all said that as well. But it was apparent they were trying to find anything wrong. Again, "His head looked huge on the trinitron" was my fav.

                Joyce, who does not have the political attention span to watch a speech that long remarked she couldn't believe how it held her attention, how he spoke to the core of issues wrong with this country, butchered sacred cows like being PC, and how it didn't "feel" long for being so long.

                    The whole meme is intellectually dishonest when you actually read Obama's acceptance speech at his convention. Remember...the messiah was going to make America great again.

                    Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
                    And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
                    may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

                      Trump should do whatever he does. It has worked for him so far.

                      It's common for the non-presidential party to talk everything down and the party of the current president to talk things up.

                      Wasn't that long ago that Obama was attacked by the Right for doing the same thing.

                        I just think he skewed a few sacred cows that no one is is talking about like PC attitudes endangering us.

                        Anyway, this is interesting.

                          I've already heard it discredited with the rationalization that it's probably a given that mostly republicans would be watching the convention and responding.

                            I would assume they polled people who watched it.

                            Although I don't know the ratings, I thought for sure Trump would get a big audience.
