Every country has their problems Tom. Its the culture.

In Japan suicide was the leading cause of death for Japanese children between the ages of 10 and 19.

The Onion could run a headline that states "No way to prevent this, in one of the few countries that it routinely happens"

You might have a point if those devices had actually hurt anyone instead of being duds.

But, nice attempt at deflection. Try talking about car safety or something, that is always y'all's popular go-to.

That's a hell of an excuse. Therefore, since Loughner's gun jammed, that means that he didn't do anything.

So now Democrats are calling for action, not specific, just something.

                    [...]
The anti-gun activists and Democrats were vexed for several minutes, but then they got the jump on the "issue" by claiming the high ground—they want action—and implying that opponents are the problem. They don't want to do anything, and worse, they'll block the Democrats.

I think they win that news cycle, but news cycles are very short these days, and theirs is a hollow argument because the "action" is irrelevant, recycled hogwash. A quick glance at Drudge seems to have no mention of demands for action on gun control anywhere on it. No mention of the shooting at all that I catch. That was a fast fifteen minutes.

Maybe it was a good fund raiser, though.

Nope and nope. I support red flag laws, although I don't think the red flag were very prominent in this case so that probably wouldn't have mad a difference. I support a ban on high capacity magazines, but that definitely doesn't apply to this one. A mandatory safe storage law might have made a difference, which reminds me. Shouldn't Frosty be giving the shooter's dad a ration of shit for not having his guns locked away from doofus boy? I sort of had the impression that was a big issue for him. As I recall, the Sandy Hook shooter used his mom's guns and took them out of safe storage because she gave him a key (or the combination, or whatever). Or maybe she just left the key where he could steal it.

Also, there were apparently two armed officers on site at this school and that didn't stop it, so does that mean you no longer support having armed security on site? I'm guessing no, it doesn't mean that. So, it's not as simple as X didn't stop this, therefore X is worthless. Maybe if he'd worn a clear backpack over his trench coat, that would have stopped the whole thing.
                        Enjoy.

There is no Constitutional right that I'm aware of to own bombs, red meat, cars or anything else you guys love to deflect about, so your points are all universally invalid.

Well, cars and beef probably come under "pursuit of happiness" which is not a right per se but it's obviously strongly encouraged.

The number of school shooting deaths and injuries in a country of 330 million is virtually nothing if sheer death counts are what you care about. I dunno if you do.

The number of medical error deaths is about 250,000 per year; some sources peg that higher.

In total, The Post found an average of 10 school shootings per year since Columbine, with a low of five in 2002 and a high of 15 in 2014. Less than three months into 2018, there have been 11 shootings, already making this year among the worst on record.

At least 130 kids, educators, staff and family members have been killed in assaults during school hours, and another 254 have been injured.
Now, if true that's less than 500 since 1999. While disturbing, it's not a "crisis". A crisis is when thousands of black teens and young adults are killed in the same period by their peers.

                              That's a crisis.

What I believe is that, try as we might, kids will die. If what we "trade" for their lives isn't worth the cost, then to me its a nonstarter. For instance, if we lowered the speed limit to 15 mph across the board, it would save many lives, but at what cost?
