The push to wokeness in the military has been discussed over recent years, going back at least to this thread in 2017, No transgenders in the military? - Not Everything is Political (notpolitical.info), started by Lanie. Someone here once suggested they couldn't imagine American soldiers firing on Americans. Yours truly suggested that the ideological purification of the forces was intended to change that.
This essay underlines the thought, and sees the military becoming like so many militaries around the world, a praetorian guard and domestic police force.

I think there's a possibility the military will be called on to "save democracy" by blocking Donald Trump from taking office.
If you a top military commander and you believe Trump is an existential threat to democracy, does it makes sense to supinely give him authority over you? To decide how you will deploy your forces? I believe absolutist rhetoric, such as Nancy Pelosi saying firmly, "Donald Trump will not be president," invites extremism.

It has become known that our military is widely using performance-enhancing drugs. Could they also be giving liberally the psychotropic drugs that fueled (in my opinion) the murderous rages of Aiden Hale (Nashville) or Salvador Ramos (Uvalde)?
