Senate Republicans Seek To Delay Kavanaugh Vote Until Accuser Properly Smeared
"I think the nomination should be withdrawn. The bar here is not whether you have not criminally assaulted someone, it's credibility , trust, integrity. - Blumenthal
This is why.
The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn:
God's in his heaven—
All's right with the world!
No. He's bitching because the Senate refused to do their job for partisan reasons.

They did their job. It was their prerogative to not advise and consent if they didn't want to do so. Obama had other options but the political calculus didn't favor it.
But please, go on about how an obviously partisan process should not be partisan - but only when you don't like the outcome.

McConnell changed the rule on Supreme Court confirmations. Otherwise, a president would need 60 members of his own party in the Senate.
Was it illegal? Was there precedent? Some other rule change made previously by Harry Reid?

This is ridiculous on its face, but coming from a Senator who lied about serving in Vietnam?
"I'm a hell of a lot smarter than most of you guys." — Joe Biden, at Jesse Jackson's funeral, March 2026.
"That's all I do in my life. I make deals. I'm really good at it." — President Donald Trump, Oct. 13, 2025.

They clearly obstructed the Obama administration's effort to replace Scalia.
The Democratic Party since 2016 has obstructed the Trump administration to the best of their ability.
Do you distinguish the two efforts?

No they didn't do their job. If they did their job, they would have debated his qualifications, and voted him up or voted him down.
Refusing to even meet with him is not "advise and consent"
And for the record, I'm still in favor of confirming Kavanaugh quickly, unless preliminary investigation finds the accusation credible. Then, as now, I consider filling the court with qualified person to be more important than my own issues/positions

I didn't make any of those claims. It was simply omitted from your statement, which made your statement pretty misleading. Maybe that was intentional, maybe not. Your "translation" doesn't fit the facts and doesn't fit the comment you were "translating".
I dislike both. I prefer days when the difference between parties could result in compromise legislation.
But I see the difference between voting against something and refusing to even debate it.
At the present moment, the GOP is anxious to confirm Kavanaugh right away, while the Democrats hope to push the vote past the November election, in hopes of winning enough seats to block it then.
The Democrats are under no Constitutional obligation to vote on Kavanaugh before the election.
Just to think back a moment: The strategy of Mitchell and the GOP was to postpone consideration of Garland under after the presidential election. Had Hillary won, he and they would certainly have confirmed Garland rather than wait for Hillary's nomination.
Neither Party is violating its Constitutional duties in strategizing delay.
The Dems are furious (logically) that Mitchell won his gambit. They made a pretense of demanding Garland be considered regardless, and added the bogus "stolen seat" epithet to our political lexicon.
But you know damn well that had the tables been reversed, each Party would have alertly and happily taken the opposite position.

I'm reading through my copy of the Constitution and I can't seem to find the part where it says that the Senate has some particular time constraint upon them for providing Advice and Consent, nor where it says that they are obligated to act at all.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

If you went into the office and built paper clip chains all day, it's not illegal but you aren't doing your job.
